Sushi Friday!

Well, the pyjama party yesterday was a piece of (ginger) cake. Today's cheer-me-up:

2. Sushi
Buy one of those “make your own sushi” kits from the supermarket, and learn to roll your own little roundels of heaven. Once you get good at the traditional Western “chicken teriyaki”, experiment with kooky flavors. My favorite sushi is avocado, cream cheese and pineapple. No joke.

Eat your sushi sitting on the floor watching kung fu, Japanese horror, or a good ole-fashioned anime tentacle sex-scene.

Right-e-o. If you've been following my blog, you know that I am not a complete beginner in this area. I wouldn't go as far as calling myself an expert, but I have made sushi... three times. Since I didn't remember today's mission until I got home, I had to take what we had in the house. As it happens, that was a full sushi set including rice, vinegar and nori-sheets, and as filling half a cucumber and half a borrowed avocado from the flat.

I made four rolls, for which it was absolutely perfect with two cups rice for cooking and the aforementioned veggies. I guess some cream cheese or other cool stuff wouldn't have been in the way, but oh well.

Oh, so pedagogic!

Sam ate two rolls = about 20 pieces. His verdict: "This is the best sushi EVER!" It sure cheered him up.

Yumming away in front of a cartoon. Searched the house for japanese movies, this is the closest I got. However, I am sitting on the floor.

Cheer me up-factor: 6 out of 10. It was a bit of a mission but worth it. Yum. And, I still got a roll in the fridge for tomorrow's lunch.
