Kiwis and their kiwis

One of the cutest things about New Zealanders (after their irresistible accent) is that they call themselves kiwis. For a New Zealander a kiwi can mean either the little furry bird or a person from New Zealand. The fruit, however, is always called kiwifruit. Never say you want to eat a kiwi.

Every time someone calls themselves a kiwi, I see a little furry bird before me.

Trademe - where kiwis buy and sell (special Easter addition above)

KiwiSaver - where New Zealanders put money every month for their retirement.

Kiwibank

"Be a tidy kiwi" - the expression that is trying to make New Zealanders clean up after themselves.

Imagine little busy furry birds saving money, buying and selling, cleaning up.

Me? I am a swiwi of course.
