Everything is for sale

A few days ago, I wrote about the roughness of Wellington. How some places smell of constant gas leaks and how it's impossible to stay warm during winter.

One thing I didn't mention - that prostitution is legal. And this seems to generate more sex shops and stripclubs as well. The corner of Vivian Street and Cuba Street is the Red Light District of Welly. Back in the days, all of the buildings held brothels, peepshows and stripclubs. Still, we find Peaches and Cream, old striptease-signs and Gentlemens retreat, an outspoken brothel here.













For me, a Stockholm girl used to the odd secretive stripclub sign, it is a bit of a culture clash. And except from being pretty revolting and a bit surreal, it is also very intriguing.

Always when I pass outside Kensington, the brothel on Willis Street, I try to see who is coming out or going in to the building. I just can't help it.















However, I've learned not to get it to too many discussions about whether prostitution should be legal or not. I keep my opinions to myself. Well, except writing about it on the blog, that is.
