Storms ahead

The weather situation is very dramatic in New Zealand right now. Severe storms are expected to hit tonight, and there are weather warnings all over the place.

"It is a good time to check your emergency survival kit and update your household emergency plans," said Harry O'Rourke, group controller for the Auckland region civil defence emergency management group, in The Dominion Post.

Prepare for the extreme.

Gales and heavy rains will batter almost all of the country today and tomorrow.

Except Wellington.

Now, for you who have followed the Wellington weather situation, you know that if there's ANY place in New Zealand you'll get rained on and blown away by gales, it's in Welly.

This time, there seems to be some kind of gap in the middle of the storm, just big enough to give Wellington a break.

Sam's reaction? "I feel like we're missing out!"
