No 24 - a ditched CD

24. Presents! Buy or make an amazing gift – like a mix CD of your favorite songs or a beautiful box of chocolates – and wrap it in a big box with a pretty ribbon. Give it a tag saying “to you”, and place it in the middle of the sidewalk outside your window. Watch how long it takes before someone picks it up.

Woho! I made the most awesome mix-CD ever, with music that hasn't getting much attention so that the receiver would be up for a real treat.













This is what happened:

4.01 pm Put a (seemingly) very obvious note on gift and put it on the street outside. Placed myself in a very sneaky position in my window.

4.11 First person walks by, Schoolboy. "Bingo!" I thought as he was picking it up. Pulse rose.













Ben comes home at this very minute, and Schoolboy asks him what it is. Ben, knowingly about the mission, replies "take it, it'd make her happy". Schoolboy looks around him, looks at the CD again and leaves it neatly by our gate. I picked it up and put it on the pavement again.

4.20 Guy in black walks by. Really walks by. He doesn't even stop to see what it is.

4.35 Getting very tired of staring out on the road. Big weird bus (some sort of transport bus?)
stops just outside.












Driver gets out, and another man. They stop and discuss the CD. Builder from the other side of the road gets involved in the discussion, which ends by them leaving it, as neatly as Schoolboy by our gate.

4.40 Have to get ready for zumba. I pick up the ditched CD and take it inside.

Today, it's been raining ALL day. Not a great day for presents on the pavement. Next possible time, I'll give it another go.

Cheer-me-up factor: 8 out of 10. This is fun. And exciting. I just hope someone is brave and cheeky enough to pick it up next time.
