Packing and how it turned out

I was going through my humble closet and trying to recall what went through my mind when I packed my bags. You know the rules: 20 kg, plus hand luggage. Shoes, bags, accessories, jackets, computer, books, toiletries and clothes.

This is some of the things I brought and how it turned out:

4 short skirts.
I must have been thinking "lots of variation taking up minimal space". Interesting choice. Very interesting choice to bring to the second windiest city in the world. Skirt demands tights, at almost all times.

Leopard tights.
Sam laughed at all the leopard in Stockholm last summer. He however failed to mention that it pretty much signals "cheap 80's" in all of New Zealand. Like it used to in Sweden. Leopard's revival has yet to come in NZ.

3 pair of pants.
Good choice, except one of them got a huge rip next to the fly when I climbed a waterfall. Impossible to fix, I think.

2 cardigans.
On a windless but chilly day - perfect. On a typical Wellington day - like dressing in a fishnet and hoping for warmth.

One bikini, leopard print.
Leopard again. I thought "bikinis must be super cheap in a country where everyone surfs". I still don't know why, but it is NOT true. Should have brought something more neutral, or at least a few of them, to spread the risks.

I suppose that how much you study up on a place, however many guidebooks and pictures you scan through, you just never know what you will find when you get off the plane for the first time.
