Say what? An audition?
That's right. I saw an ad for a charity event that was looking for models, all sizes, and no previous experience needed. I thought it sounded like fun, signed up and got shortlisted.
Audition was this morning at 9 am. On a Sunday. I found out that the arranger actually was Weta Workshops, the people that worked on Avatar, Lord of the Rings and about a gazillion more super cool movies.
And when I got there, there was nothing of the "all sizes" to be seen. Everyone of the around 150 hopeful aspirants looked like they just stepped out of freaking Top Model. Actually, one of the girls next to me had been in the last season, and talked about all the girls and how they were in reality.
The "do it for fun"-factor was suddenly pretty low.
But I did it. I stepped into the room in my undies, did a few catwalk (haha!) lengths, and talked to the very friendly judges.

I would hardly bank on me getting any further in the process, but on the other hand, if I hadn't done it I might have spent my life wondering if I shouldn't be a lingerie model after all.
YAY for doing scary things and feeling that is doesn't really matter that much what people think of you after all. They are probably too busy looking after themselves anyway.
UPDATE: Oh, and this was written before the second part, where I got to play fight a body painted spacewoman (well, a woman painted as one), and do an aggressive mating dance with a body painted lizard (as you might have guessed, a man painted as one).
Man, what a day.

=O WELL DONE! I am very proud of you. I don't think I would have had the guts to model in my knickers. But I have been doing some other sort of scary, getting myself out there sort of things this year too.
ReplyDeletethank you! i'm looking forward to hearing about the newer part of your adventures.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you were brilliant! If they were looking for a range they would surely want you with your actual breasts!
